What You Need To Know
Dennis and Yarmouth residents don’t have to be experts to make a difference for Bass River. By taking a few simple actions, you can help protect this essential waterway and support its recovery:
-
Educate Yourself and Others: Learn about the wastewater projects in both Yarmouth and Dennis. These DEP initiatives are projected to reduce nitrogen in Bass River by 70% over the next 20 years, drastically improving water quality. Share this knowledge with your friends, family, and neighbors.
-
Reduce Fertilizer Use: Limiting fertilizers and pesticides on your lawn helps reduce runoff into Bass River, lowering the nitrogen levels that cause harmful algae blooms.
-
GET INVOLVED: Participate in local clean-up events, attend town meetings, community symposiums, and support organizations that restore water quality and reduce pollution in Bass River.
Together, We Can Help Bass River!
The role of wastewater projects in Yarmouth and Dennis is shifting people's focus away from antiquated narratives about clean water and emphasizing education and community involvement to truly make a sustainable difference.
